FRIDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2025
9 am to 12 pm
Presented by: Dr. Wei-Shao Lin and Dr. Chao-Chieh Yang
This comprehensive presentative will delve into the patient’s journey of full arch implant rehabilitation, highlighting the pivotal role of digital technologies in modern dental practices. It will begin with the diagnosis and risk assessment process for edentulous patients or those with terminal dentition, advancing through the digital planning of treatment strategies. The importance of a multidisciplinary team approach will be emphasized, aided by static computer-aided implant surgery (s-CAIS) and CAD/CAM surgical templates. The discussion will extend to the prosthodontics domain, shedding light on the selection, design, and fabrication of CAD/CAM prosthetics, and underscoring the transformative impact of intraoral scans and digital workflows on enhancing prosthetic fit, function, and aesthetics. Additionally, it will confront the challenges and limitations inherent to digital methodologies, such as the cumulative nature of errors in digital workflows and the strategies to mitigate them. This presentation will offer a holistic view of the forthcoming advancements and directions in full arch implant rehabilitations, aiming to achieve optimal patient outcomes through the synergy of technology, clinical expertise, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Presented by: Dr. Wei-Shao Lin and Dr. Chao-Chieh Yang
This workshop introduces the principles of creating predictable provisional full-arch implant-supported dental prostheses. Attendees will learn about the Smart Denture Conversions system, which utilizes Separable Fasteners for efficient denture conversion for the immediate loading procedure, enhancing the strength of the provisional prosthesis by eliminating the need for extensive screw access. Furthermore, correct selection of multi-unit abutments and laboratory procedures for finalizing the prosthesis to achieve superior clinical outcomes will be covered. The workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge to improve the structural integrity and clinical success of provisional immediately loaded full-arch implant-supported dental prostheses. The latter part of the session will pivot to a digital prosthodontics workflow, moving away from traditional impressions to the innovative Nexus iOS workflow. Participants will gain hands-on experience with the Nexus Scan Gauge and will be instructed on the scanning sequence and strategies to capture precise intraoral scans for definitive full-arch implant-supported dental prostheses. The workshop will guide participants through the subsequent digital workflow steps once accurate intraoral scans are obtained, including the approval of the digital preview, trial of 3D-printed prototypes, and the delivery of the definitive prosthesis. Ultimately, the Nexus iOS workflow provides a digital solution to complete the definitive full-arch implant-supported dental prostheses with a passive fit, into 2 to 3 patient appointments.

Presented by: Dr. Georgios A. Kotsakis
Abstract: Peri-implantitis has been receiving attention following recent studies that showed that it is highly prevalent and difficult to manage. This lecture will provide the latest evidence-based information on peri-implant diseases with emphasis on the role that titanium particle release has in destructive bone inflammation around implants. Strategies for prevention and mitigation will be presented through clinical cases.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Dr. George Kotsakis is a Board-Certified Periodontist and a Fellow of the ITI. He received his DDS from the University of Athens and after graduation he practiced in Athens, Greece prior to coming to the US. He then completed his residency in Periodontics and MS in Science at the University of Minnesota when he first got involved in Peri-implantitis research. Following his training, he became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA and then moved to UTHealth San Antonio as an Associate Professor and held the Roland Meffert Endowed Professorship in Implant Dentistry. He is currently a Professor of Oral Biology & Assistant Dean for Clinical Research at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.
